29 June 2007 – 26 August 2007 Projecting Time"Projecting Time" presents eight artistic positions concerned with the construction of historical reality. Such different media as photography, film, installation, sculpture and painting encounter each other in the exhibition and illustrate different methods for approaching past or current stories. A central focus is on a critical examination of the systems of representation and depiction through which historiography identifies its subject as historical facts. The artists in “Projecting Time” investigate this canonized form of creating historical facts by staging the material of history with their respective artistic methods— while not searching, however, for new constants or "truths". Instead, the artistic practices lead to disruptions, inconsistencies and paradoxes within the historical narrative: They seek to excavate forgotten or lost stories concealed beneath the archival surfaces, to free the images from the corset of their semantic classifications, to inquire about the consequences of a commercialization of historical documents, to cause the protagonists behind the recording of history to disappear, or to reconstruct images which never existed.AddressBadischer KunstvereinWaldstrasse 3 76133 Karlsruhe phone +49 721 282 26 http://www.badischer-kunstverein.de Opening HoursTuesday-Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., closed on Monday.Description of the Museum |
