27 May 2008 – 14 September 2008 Digital Spatial Art - Exhibition on the occasion of the 31. DUISBURGER AKZENTE"Digital technology" refers to the transformation of electric signals into binary symbols, which only exist in two conditions: signal present or no signal present. In this mathematically precise binary system, any signal can be structured as a symbol and stored as a 3D reproduction of reality. The development of the digital system, which, in addition to IT specialists and architects, is also being increasingly discovered by artists, runs parallel to the perfection of computer technology. Nowadays even artists who work in a traditional (analog) style are reverting increasingly to digital media and using technology provided by industry and the communications media (computer animation, digital music, interactive art, Net Vision et al). Today digital spatial art, with a PC as the operative tool, is dominant in precisely in the classic media such as film, photography, and video art and, in a complex extension of the reception context, has found a media language of its own.AddressStiftung Wilhelm Lehmbruck MuseumFriedrich-Wilhelm-Strasse 40 47049 Duisburg phone +49 203 283 26 30 http://www.lehmbruckmuseum.de Opening HoursTuesday-Saturday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., closed on Monday.Description of the MuseumToday, what distinguishes the museum is its collection, unrivaled in Europe, of international modernist sculptures, its unique blend of outstanding museum architecture, its sculpture park and sculpture within the urban context.
