THE SHADOW OF HISTORY. FUTURE CONTEXTS

Developing a research and production project requires time and a flexible and complex structure which allows for the tasks needed to carry out a project of this nature. This is the reason why Proxecto-Edición has set itself a time frame of three years (2006-2008), three institutions as producers, (CGAC, MARCO y Fundación Luis Seoane), and several artists and contributors as agents, who have been able to articulate all the necessary elements to ensure that both the research and the productions, as well as the publicity and communication platforms, have worked together in order to bring audiences closer to the use which current artists are making of different publishing options and systems.

We are living in an information society, dictated by communication and immaterial economy, and, therefore, a project linked to the possible uses of several current publishing media is an appropriate way of analysing the different elements we have dealt with over the last three years. Beyond the specific interests of each artist, and of the nature of each produced work, at Proxecto-Edición we have directly examined issues such as the interest in novelty, the obsessive interest in the news, communicational models and the ideological structure which underlies media constructions, as well as carrying out an indirect study of burning issues such as those relating to copyright to the systematization of information and data in several archives or compilations.
