28 April 2007 – 24 June 2007 WW vs. GRRRRWesley Willis (1963-2003, Chicago) and Ingo Giezendanner (Zurich, born 1975) both work in the medium of drawing. They question not only the role of underground culture within the institutional context, but also the subjective perception of their respective urban environments.Willis, who was also a well-known musician, made several thousand drawings of Chicago in the course of his life, presenting an extremely idiosyncratic take on his native city. Giezendanner often reworks his travel sketches into large-scale wall drawings. The installation that he is creating especially for the exhibition will include a panorama of St. Gall. WW vs. GRRRR combines the first retrospective of Willis’s oeuvre with an extensive selection of work by the young Swiss artist.
