BLUE & WHITE - Objects in Blue-White from Egypt to China

Cobalt blue began to be used for the decoration of ceramics in the 10th century. The earliest examples are from Egypt, from where its further path can be traced to Persia and to the typical blueand- white Chinese porcelain from the 14th century onwards, as well as the latter’s influence on ceramics in Persia, Turkey and ultimately Europe. Blue and white has thus become a symbol of intercultural relations and influences over the course of the centuries.
