1 October 2007 – 17 February 2008 Oz Almog and Friends: ALEPH BETH JUDBOXAICA KID’S BOXThe Hebrew ALEPH BETH has deep symbolic roots and forms one of the traditional pillars of Jewish and universal culture. A number of international artists join Oz Almog in taking up the challenge of presenting Jewish concepts and symbolism in a form accessible to children. The colourful and entertaining presentation is designed to provide young and “adult” children with the means to understand the significance of the Hebrew alphabet. The letters of the ALEPH BETH and their numerical equivalents incorporate the philosophy of an entire culture and are used here as a basis for discovering Jewish traditions. The Judaica Kid’s Box contains pictures, photos, objects and a video to incite visitors to find out more about traditional Jewish thought and teachings. “Why do we wear a kippa'”, “Does God really have 72 names'”, “What is inside the mezuzah'”, “Why do we eat kosher'”. These and other questions are answered in the exhibition, the first in a collaborative series by Jewish and non-Jewish artists on these topics. Opening HoursSunday-Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday till 8 p.m., closed on Saturday.Description of the Museum |
