30 March 2007 – 1 July 2007 Stuhl Haus Stadt - Haefeli Moser SteigerThe partnership Haefeli Moser Steiger was one of the most important Swiss architecture practices of the 20th century. Around 1930 through their buildings and their contributions to architectural theory Max Ernst Haefeli, Werner M. Moser and Rudolf Steiger played an important role in the breakthrough of the “Neues Bauen”. Following the founding of their office in 1937 (it remained in existence until 1975) they repeatedly provided new impulses for modern architecture, both in Switzerland and abroad. The extensive area in which they were involved ranged from furniture and exhibition design to individual buildings and estates and included urban and regional planning. In Zurich itself many milestones in the career ofHaefeli Moser Steiger can be seen: the Werkbundsiedlung Neubühl and the Kantonsspital where they played a most important role, the Hochhaus zur Palme or the Kongresshaus, which is currently a subject of discussion. The exhibition is a joint production by the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich and the gta Institute of the ETH Zürich.
