9 November 2007 – 3 February 2008 Strings Keys Sounds - Music instruments yesterday today tomorrowA musical instrument is a musical instrument is a musical instrument. Thanks to a donationmade by the music business Hug in 1968 the applied arts collection has been expanded by the addition of exceptional music instruments. The fusion of Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich (hgkz) with the Hochschule Musik und Theater Zürich (hmt) in 2007 now offers an occasion to trace the tonality of music instruments from yesterday, today and tomorrow. The collaboration with the hmt, the Patt Collection, Willisau and the music company Hug offers a rare opportunity to place old music instruments, some of which are unique, in a contemporary context. It illustrates the passage of time not only by means of new sounds but above all through the richness of forms that the world of music has repeatedly invented and will continue to create to produce new tones, harmonies and sounds. Opening HoursTuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday - 8 p.m., closed on Monday.Description of the MuseumAs the home of the applied arts collection of the Zürich Museum of Design since 1968, Museum Bellerive has made an international name for itself as the leading Swiss museum of applied art - both in unique objects and limited series. The Collection’s centres of emphasis include Art Nouveau works comprising all materials, as well as the department of textiles, art marionettes and modern ceramics. |
