The Hotel Sacher Wien was opened in 1876 by Eduard Sacher, the son of the creator of the famous Original Sacher-Torte. Soon the hotel became world famous as a popular meeting place for personalities from the peerage, politics, business & artics.

Today the hotel is privately run by the Gürtler familiy. It is located in the pedestrian zone in the city centre, directly opposite the Vienna State Opera, next to the Albertina gallery and just a few minutes walk from the elegant Ringstraße boulevard, St. Stephen's Cathedral and Hofburg Palace.

In October 2006 the luxury hotel was enlarged by two additional roof floors which will afford a unique view over the whole city and boast 42 new rooms, a business area and a spa area including salt steam bath, historical sauna, relaxing oasis, herbal sauna, massage and cosmetic treatments with beauty products of La Prairie & Ligne St. Barth. But the top attractions certainly are the "Hot Chocolate Treatments" by Sacher.
