From Berlin-Potsdam via Wittenberg, Dessau to Eisleben

Berlin, Germany‘s capital city and cultural metropolis, and Potsdam, home of the Prussian kings, traditionally represent the axis along which the state of Brandenburg-Prussia rose to power. In the past, the kings and their courtiers travelled between the two cities by horse and carriage;
today the suburban train takes just 30 minutes to cover the same distance through the Grunewald forest.

The journey to Wittenberg leads on back roads through the moorland of the Marches, often along picturesque tree-lined avenues. Lutherstadt Wittenberg, with its Lutheran associations, and Dessau, city of traditional landscaped gardens and “Bauhaus”; are both shaped by the Elbe and its extensive riverside landscapes.

The journey then follows the German Avenues Route via the historic Bach town of Köthen, through Könnern into Eisleben, another town with important Luther connections.
